Step Down Transformer ( For Sonometer Experiment)

A step down transformer is used in the sonometer apparatus to reduce the voltage of the mains supply to a safe level. The mains supply voltage in India is 220 volts, which is too high for the sonometer wire to withstand. The step-down transformer reduces the voltage to a level of 6 to 8 volts, which is safe for the sonometer wire.
